M105
Discovered by Mechain in 1781 at the same time as the adjacent bright galaxies M95 and M96, M105 is a bright elliptical galaxy of type E1. It forms a close group with NGC3384 an E7 Elliptical galaxy (7' away) and NGC3389 an Sc Spiral galaxy (10' away). At magnitude 9.3 and of size 3.8', M105 is visible in most amateur 'scopes. It is part of the Leo group of galaxies.
